This week’s Featured Tattooed Mom is another lovely lady that I know in person. She’s kind, caring, and generous and I’m so glad she’s part of the Tattooed Moms Club!!
Tell us about your kids?
I have 2 kids. My daughter is 24 and my son is 25. I am also a Grandma of 2 beautiful little girls whom are 4 and 2.
How do your kids feel about your tattoos?
My kids actually like my tattoos and find them pretty cool!
What about your kids’ friends?
They find my tattoos awesome!
What is your parenting style?
My parenting style is laid back and cool. I let my kids know right from wrong and told them what I would prefer they do but always let them make their own decisions. My motto is “Life lessons, you have to live them to learn them”. I’m also the type of parent that my kids can come to me with anything or talk to me about anything without judgement.
What is the biggest lesson parenting has taught you?
The biggest lesson parenting has taught me would have to be not to over parent. They are young growing people and you have to let kids be their own person and make mistakes. Also, parenting has taught me to love unconditionally.
Have you ever faced any discrimination due to being a tattooed mom? What happened?
I don’t recall a specific situation where I had been discriminated against but I do recall being made to feel like I was an outcast due to them. I was looked down upon as well.
Tell us about your tattoos. Who did them and do you have a favorite one?
I have 9 tattoos and counting!! LOL I have a butterfly on my upper back, a sugar skull on my left forearm, ” ;my story continues” on my right forearm, a bass clef on my left hand, a flower on the left and right side of my chest with the name of each granddaughter underneath, the Corpse Bride on my right thigh, and a fairy on my right calf.
Two of my tattoos were done when I lived in Georgia from Leon at A Touch of Ink.
The other seven are by Scott Cutlip, owner of Bonafide Tattoo Company.
I can’t say that I have a favorite “one” tattoo. I have so many that have so much meaning for me that it makes it difficult to choose a favorite one.
How old were you when you got your first tattoo and what was it?
I was 39 when I had gotten my first tattoo. My third was on my left forearm and my daughter in law told me that I was a badass for getting a tattoo there at my age. I was 40 when I had gotten that one.
What is your idea of “me time”?
My idea of “me time” is jamming out to some of my favorite music letting it touch my soul or quietly sitting and coloring a mandala picture.
Would you rather go into the past and meet your ancestors or go into the future and meet your great-great grandchildren?
I would rather go into the future and meet my great-great grandchildren because I would rather see what is happening in the future as it is unknown versus going to the past as it has already happened…
